Project Brief
Designed as a two-bedroom home for a couple, this residence was shaped by the constraints of a narrow 20-foot frontage while prioritizing openness, functionality, and natural light.
Design Intent-
For us, natural light is the most defining characteristic of a space. Given the site’s limitations, we designed the house sectionally, placing all public and semi-private spaces at the front and keeping private areas towards the back. A 1.5-height living room at the front allows daylight to penetrate deep into the house, creating a bright and airy atmosphere.
The residence incorporates three distinct outdoor spaces:
A southeast-facing balcony on the first floor, positioned 10 feet above ground.
A large south-facing balcony at 17 feet, located above the living area.
A terrace above the first-floor rooms, offering an open and private outdoor retreat.
Challenging conventional norms in the area, we introduced design elements that stand out— a double-height living room, an open kitchen, and an asymmetrical sloping roof—all of which bring a modern, progressive character to the home.
